We Made A Game…
Its hard to remember exactly what we were thinking when we started working on Aquaria. Its pretty amazing how far the game has gone over the last year and a bit.
Derek has posted his thoughts about IGF on his blog. To be honest, I don’t have much to add. GDC as a whole has been an incredible positive experience. I definitely see a bright future for indie games in the amount of excitement, creativity and raw energy we found in everyone hanging around the IGF pavilion.
After the awards show, Derek and I were walking around like zombies for a couple days. The combined shock of seeing so many of our heroes and getting a really big pat on the back for our efforts was hard to internalize.
Of course now there are many questions pouring in about when folks will actually be able to get their hands on the game, what systems the game will be coming out for, etc. In order to answer these questions in one place, I’ve started an Aquaria FAQ on the forums. We’ve got what looks like 2-3 months of work to go. For now though, I think we’re going to take some time to recover our wits before we get back into the grind proper.
In the end, I consider myself damned lucky to have had the chance to work with Derek and Jenna. I hope we get to do this again!

Oh man, it’s so close! Do me a favor and don’t put a time limit on the demo or anything… I don’t see the point anyway if it’s a standalone adventure.

Congratz on the award nominations. This is easily the most beautiful game I ever seen. Hope you guys have continued success.

You really oughta change “nominated for 4 awards” to “won the grand prize” or something.
