Aquarium!
At The Independent Gaming Source we ran a competition for “demakes” - remakes of games made as though they were running on old consoles. One of the entries was Aquarium, a NES demake by Oracle. Can you guess what game it’s supposed to be?
Although it’s just a short demo, Aquarium is still a wonderful re-envisioning of Aquaria. You gotta love the great pixel graphics and the chiptune version of Alec’s theme song. I’d love to see this finished some day!

Haha, that’s great. It looks like they only have the demo. You should give Oracle and flod a freebie license for the real game for all their hard word

When I saw it on TIGS I just had to check it out myself. And a I have to admit it’s one of the most interesting demakes I ever seen! It’s plain simple, but has all the most important elements from Aquaria. Nice to see how Oracle made everything into it in less than 1mb

That’s a really fun video. I liked the way he did the rocks.
Makes me want to do some “real” painting, actually. Digital painting is a lot faster, but it just doesn’t feel as good.

Wow. I’m impressed. Both Aquaria and Aquarium run great under Linux, too. Did that happen on purpose, or did you guys just get lucky?
