Happy Anniversary! New Trailer and More…
Hi folks, Alec here - as of December 7, Aquaria has been released for a year. We want to thank all the people who chose to buy the game and support us. You’re the reason we’re still around, and we really appreciate it. You’re also the reason why we’ve been able to continue to work on improving the game, and soon you’ll be able to experience the result of those efforts.
This weekend we’ll release the new Windows version of Aquaria, 1.1.1. This version includes widescreen, graphics and audio enhancements, improved puzzles, a new/awesome map system and more. It even improves on the recently released Mac version - and it will be released at a new price.
And last but not least, we’ve made a new trailer to celebrate. This one was made in 1280×720, and looks absolutely gorgeous. The files involved in making it are taking up about 82GB of my hard drive! You can check out the embedded video here at standard def, but head to YouTube or Vimeo for the option to watch it in HD. If you want the original source AVI file, just send me an email (zaphire@gmail.com) and I’ll hook you up.

Soundtrack or… wtf! I mean… its been a year now I still have no way to spend money on it (and support the artist). I even almost forgot about the whole OST and game just because i hear music more often than i play this game (i probably will never do so again) and i can’t get the frickin OST.

I’m working on the OST, but it takes time and its also expensive to produce the CDs in the way we want to and at the quantities that the CD production companies require. I’m also writing a new song for it that’ll involve vocals by Jenna, and that takes a fair bit of time and coordination.
Hopefully I’ll be able to get it out next month, but I can’t make any promises.

Wow, I thought the Windows patch was going to come much later than the Mac version, this is a nice surprise, and I just bought a 42″ 1080p HDTV, this is going to rock! (I did actually held out on playing the game completely since the patch announcement… yeah, I’m that sad, LOL.)
Oh, by the way: For those of us who purchased the game since it came out, do we have to pay for this update? or will it be free like the previous ones?

I love the trailer: the previous version was almost direct footage from the game. Great work guys! Aquaria will be remembered as one of the zeniths of traditional 2D gaming.

We’re going to release a physical version. Its just a question of figuring out the details, and finding the right time to do it. We have the majority of the packaging designed, etc.

Can’t wait. And a physical version sometime in the future? Count me in. I’m frankly getting worried that in <5 years I’ll not be able to buy physical copies of games at all. I want all the stuff that takes up too much room; the manuals with misprints, the big cardboard boxes that always get frayed at the edges though you never touch them, the disks/cd’s that get obsolete after a few years…. I’m a collector.

I don’t know if you will believe this, but watching this trailer actually made me get a little teary eyed. It just brought back all the wonder I’ve felt playing Aquaria, and how much I love it even on second and third playthroughs.
