  13. realyst Says:

I have a problem….paypal timed out after payment. It dinged my card but it didn’t redirect me afterwards. Are the download details sent via email afterwards at some point?

  14. Steven Jackson Says:

When I click “Buy Now $30″ (I’ve tried a few times), I get a 503 error from Plimus:

    Service unavailable!

The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.

Alright, I’m off to play the demo - hopefully it’ll work when I get back. Woot for release!

  22. Chronos Says:

Where is the download? I don’t see it on the Aquaria page.

  23. Hiro Says:

    Yay!

  24. Sergio Says:

Meeeean. Download is to the left- a little hard to see. Possibly remedy this.

  25. asdf Says:

Yeah, I bought it and have a product key but no download link…hoping it comes soon, can’t wait!

  26. realyst Says:

    Stalfos:

    Checked, not in spam bucket:(

  27. asdf Says:

Never mind, got the download link! Everyone should be sure to check their spam folders…

  28. Sergio Says:

Plimus service is unavailable for me too!

  29. TeeGee Says:

Downloaded the demo, but the whole gmae runs at 1fps (on a pretty powerful PC with most recent drivers and all). Anybody else having the problem?

    Damn bad luck!

  30. asdf Says:

    43%…

  31. Myster_EE Says:

Congratulations, guys. A truly wonderful accomplishment. My Little sister is really going to enjoy……. watching me play this! :P

  33. realyst Says:

    Stalfos:

    Thanks, but no go:(

Derek got back to me once I emailed the admin@ addy. We’re gonna wait it out for at least a day(*sniff*) and then take it from there just in case Plimus is just overwhelmed.

  34. realyst Says:

    Yay! I got it!!!:D

  35. Hiro Says:

Man, 3 hours later and I’ll have Aquaria. -_-

    Stupid New Zealand internet!

  36. 30 dollars well spent Says:

paid, got my receipt. waiting for the download link/code
also, downloading the demo in the meantime!

  37. dg10050 Says:

    :|
It would seem as though Colorblindness 2.0 Red/Green Edition isn’t compatible with this game. >_>
A bit of a bummer when I can’t tell the difference between half of the song orbs. Oh well, I suppose I’ll figure it out…

  38. realyst Says:

dg10050: can’t you tweak your monitor’s color settings to bring out the contrast more?

I’m not colorblind so I don’t know how effective that is, but maybe it’s worth a try?

  39. Gesso Says:

Dudes, you got Aquaria out, we got it, ok? But here’s what everyone wants to know: do you guys already have a scheduled release date for “Those Damn Beavers!”?

    You tease us so.

Seriously though. Congratulations all around. You guys rock.

  40. dg10050 Says:

realyst: That doesn’t really help. It’s not a huge deal though. I just have to go into the menu to check which orbs have to be selected in what order after I learn a song. :P

  41. t3mp3st Says:

With all my might, I’ve managed to pull myself away briefly to say that purchase, download, install, and play went as smooth as anyone could hope for.

I know with something like this, you’ll get a note from anyone with a problem, while those who don’t have one will be all to busy playing, so had to take the time to say job well done.

It took a long time, but it looks like time well spent. Hope to see more games from you two in the future, it looks like a great start. You guys went all out :)

  42. Derek Says:

Thank you, t3mp3st. That means a lot to us, truly. :)

  43. illithid235 Says:

Well, even though I’m having some problems with the full version, I’ve played a bit of the demo. It looks amazing so far, seriously. Music is beautiful, the art is fantastic, and the control scheme! It seems great! I can’t wait to start with the full version. I’m so impressed that you guys are staying active on the forums during this whole ordeal. Kudos!

  44. SubActuality Says:

Even though I haven’t been able to download my copy yet, I’m playing the demo and absolutely awestruck by it. Well done, you guys! The game industry is starving for more genuine talent like yours.

  45. SBKT Says:

Damn! I feel like a hobo. I’ll get the demo for now, and after I work out the issues with Paypal, preferably with mailbombs to their physical HQ, I’ll get it.

  46. Brian Says:

    Hey guys,

Wow! I’ve downloaded the demo to start out, but I’m sure I’ll be purchasing this gem–just in a few days when I can actually afford it. :) In any case, the controls are superb–everything I imagined they’d be.

I was also struck by how beautiful the music is and the singing feature is stunning and perfectly implemented. I liken it to the Ocarina in “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time” but, dare I say, more perfect! I love the way it blends in with the background music and how simple the interface is (the ring reminds me of “Secret of Mana”).

One more note. It seems to me that this game would be perfect for the Nintendo DS. I can see this working really well with just the stylus and the occasional button. Plus, the second screen could hold some neat stuff. Here’s hoping this game gets all the attention it deserves and perhaps an offer from Nintendo.

    Congratulations to one and all,

    Brian

  47. John Says:

Hey Derek, just someone from the old old klik community saying good job and congratulations on another great game! Eternal Daughter was a hard act to follow but after playing through the demo for Aquaria (which took me two hours, the most generous demo ever I think, thank you for that too!) I will be buying the game to keep me company over the Christmas break (and to support the indie community, of course).

Everything looks, feels, and runs great. Truly a piece of art and one that will be remembered in the indie gaming community, and possibly more, forever. I hope you and Alec receive everything you deserve from this game, in both praise and fat monetary gains!

  48. D3stiny_Sm4sher Says:

Waiting patiently until your server issues resolve so I can buy the full version — downloading the demo in the meantime…

Do I need PayPal in order to purchase this, by the way? That’s gonna delay my time in buying it anyway…bloody Pay Pal…

  49. Alec Says:

    PayPal isn’t required.

  50. D3stiny_Sm4sher Says:

    OK, good. :)

Now if only the bloody server will work and stop giving me this error.

By the way, it’s good to see you guys were so prepared and are every prompt. Already a patch up, and a lot of fanciness to the site.

Be prepared — I’m an amateur critic (reviews editor at Zentendo.com) and intend to critique this game in full, both good and bad, so you have that to look forward to. ;)

I have faith in what I’ve seen thus far, though.
And don’t worry, I’m not the type to analyze things too objectively, it’s more of a subconscious thing, so I’m sure it won’t detract from the experience. :)

  51. Jerome Says:

From One developer to another, very well executed. The only problem i had was that when i was in the main world, the game seems to have a lot of hiccups, i would have understand that if i was running on a low end graphics card, but i am not also i have 2gig of ram. I am running 7950gtx card. But beside that good job again.

  52. RyanA Says:

Great! The demo is amazing. You guys are amazing. Man-hugs for everyone! (:

  53. diablospawn Says:

just beat boss in city ruins… (didnt do the forest yest) and i have to say, this is one of the best games ever… good work guys… my roomate went to the forrest first :P

  54. Shish Says:

I’m confused - it’s only just been released, and it’s already won an award… in march o_O?

  55. PHeMoX Says:

WOW!!! It’s magical! Love the demo so far and definitely am going to buy the full version soon! :D

You guys are the best! Congratz.

  56. Ricardo "Keops" Chirino Says:

    Congratulations, Derek, Alec!

My girlfriend purchased the game for me as an Xmas gift! It’s so beautiful. Thanks for pouring your soul and effort into this gorgeous game. It’s an inspiration for us all, who are also hard at work on indie game projects!

Both of you, gentlemen, have all my appreciation and love (not of the gay kind).

    Keep it up!

  57. BMcC Says:

    Congrats, guys.

  58. BMcC Says:

Er, the rest of my message got erased. There was an ASCII heart involved. I think I’ve run into this problem before…

Anyway, like Matt and Steve said — beers and manhugs aplenty. Just have the tent ready. ;)

  59. isador21 Says:

Judging from the demo, I’d say the full version is well worth a buy.
Don’t blame them for the price, blame the game industry

  60. casualgamer Says:

    Hi Alec & Derek,
I followed this blog for almost half a year now, never posted before, but now I just wanted to leave a few lines.
I think you created a wonderful game that you can be extremely proud of. Graphics, music, the whole gaming experience is just awesome!
I am a casual gamer who goes a lot to sites like jayisgames.com to play some free flash games and the occasional demo, but usually I am not the kind of guy who goes out and buys a full version.
Aquaria is different though - I played the demo for 15 minutes and then I decided that I want to own the full version! And not just because I think it is such a great game, also because I think it is a great thing to support indie developers like you guys.
I hope that this game is going to be a success for you and best of luck from me!

  61. Pixel Mort Says:

    Thank you for this gem.

  62. GeoffCB Says:

This is the best 2D game I have played in years, the bright vibrant graphics prove 2d is still the best, and the voice work, its wonderful! Will be paying for the full version tonight!
