I'm gonna be cool and mention Akuji and Guardians of Paradise!! Both of these are made by the same indie developer/guy: Buster. They're short(ish), old-school and oh-so-freaking cute!! Guardian of Paradise: Akuji the Demon/Heartless Guardians of Paradise is longer than Akuji, but I still prefer Akuji more. Guardians of Paradise DownloadAkuji the Demon Download

DEATH WORRRRRRRMOh my word this is hilarious. It's not got a huge lifespan, but I got a solid week of chuckles out of massacring the hells out of squishy hu-mans before finally breaking it.

Heh! I also found that game about a week ago. My record was 2000+ points. I was bloody huge And my ever largest combo was about 24 kills in one go. Obviously I died at the end of that

Once I worked out how to partially break the physics, I managed a forty-one kill combo by gliding the entire length of the level, murderalising everything stupid enough to walk on the surface of my desert. It was magic.

Death worm is huge fun. I especially like to do "Dune"s and jump in the air right below a big chunk of humans and animals. Oh yes, i also found out about this wacky puzzle/arcade hybrid game from the creators of gish. Blast miner!

The Laxius games are quite good, with a LOT to do. Sure the RPGs are made from a simple program like RPG Maker 2000 and the english isn't very good, but it reminds of the good RPG days that the SNES brought, except you have more to do. Here's where you can get the current games in the series: http://laxiuspower.org/The available games are: Laxius Power, Laxius Power II, Laxius Power III, Blades of Heaven, and Lax Team Laxius Power IV is coming out in early 2008.

One series of games I found was the Marathon Trilogy the website is http://trilogyrelease.bungie.org you may need to do a bit of looking on the website to find a file called alpha one which you need to get to play marathon. Also it was made by Bungie and the reason it free now is because you can't stores anymore.

AlephOne is the name of the open source version of the Marathon II / Infinity engine that Bungie put out in the late 1990s, shortly before they were bought out by MS. More recently, Bungie released the data files for the original Marathon games, for use with AlephOne -- before that, you had to buy the Marathon CDs separately. For those that care, aleph is the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet, and is also used to represent various infinities. Roughly speaking, aleph null is the number of items in the set of integers, i.e. aleph null is the ordinality of a countable set. Aleph one is next largest infinity, if I recall my calculus correctly, and corresponds to the set of real numbers. Just in case you were wondering. xander

I've just started getting into Akuji The Demon, and I'm enjoying it immensely! The Japanese text isn't nearly the barrier I feared it'd be (which is just as well, really, because I can't find a translation patch; I've found one downloadable one, and it's a .rup file, which I've never seen in my life and have no idea how to open).
